Digital Video and Media, Advanced Digital Video and Media

This course is for students who want to use state-of-the-art hardware/software to design and create interactive projects which integrate video, sound, graphics, text and animation. Students will have access to scanners, digital still and video cameras, CD burners, color laser printers and color projectors. Students will understand and demonstrate how to use technology to effectively communicate in personal, educational, and employment settings.

Applications available for student use will include: Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Inspiration, Director-Academic, QTVR Authoring Studio, Cinema 4D XL, Smart Sound, Animation Maker, Illustrator.

Examples of related occupational areas are: Java Programmer; Games Tool Developer; Website Designer; Computer Aided Designer; Desktop Publisher; Graphics Animator; Interface Designer; Internet Graphics Designer; Multimedia Developer; Video Animation Developer; Non-linear Video Production Specialist.

Recommended Grade Level: 9 -12

Advanced Web Page Development

The World Wide Web has grown tremendously in the last few years. The reason for the growth is the ease with which it allows consumers of Internet-based information and information providers to access the Internet. This course will provide an understanding of how information is produced and disseminated on the World Wide Web. Students will apply desktop design and publishing practices to the design, development, and programming of web pages. Concepts covered in this course include html, html editors, JavaScript. Students will also have access to MySQL and PHP.

Applications available for student use will include: Macromedia Studio MX 2004 (Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash), Adobe CS2 (Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign).

Examples of related occupational areas are: Web Designer; Graphic Designer; Web Content Designer; Project Manager; Writer; Database Specialist.

Recommended Grade Level: 9 -12
