Frequently Asked Questions

Who should attend the ITFP?

  • Students with a wide variety of skills and interests in technology should apply. The ITFP is for students with computer skills that exceed the scope of the regular curriculum. Also, students interested in exploring technology and gaining confidence in working with a wide variety of state-of-the-art hardware and software should apply.
  • Students who think they might be interested in pursuing a career in technology after graduation will find courses at ITFP invaluable in preparing for their future. However, students who just enjoy working with computers and exploring their own creative talents should also apply.
  • Students who enjoy working in a small learning community that includes and accommodates a variety of learning styles and abilities should apply.
Where is the ITFP located?
  • The ITFP is located on the fourth floor of the SCC Entrepreneurship Center located at 285 S. 68th Street Place.You can view or download and print a pdf version of the map for directions.

What are the pre-requisites for attending?

  • There are no pre-requisites. Computer Applications is NOT a pre-requisite. There are recommended grade levels for some classes. Those recommendations can be found on the curriculum page.

What about the LPS Technology Graduation requirement?

  • LPS requires 10 credits in technology for graduation. That typically means two computer classes in the regular high school. Each course at ITFP is worth 10 credits. Therefore, one course at ITFP will meet the current LPS Technology Graduation requirement.

When do classes meet?

  • Each class meets for 100 minutes daily. Students either attend morning classes from 7:35 - 9:15 AM or afternoon classes from 1:30 - 3:10 PM. Tuesdays are District PLC days and the schedule is 7:35 - 8:55 AM and 12:45 - 2:05 PM. Students may attend both sessions if their high school schedule permits. Students attend their home high school when not at the ITFP. Classes meet for the entire semester and are worth 10 credit points.
